A great article and video on using Xampp as a development tool

When developing websites or wordpress themes i always use xampp as it makes life so much easier. Basically the program allows you to use your computer as a server, saving you time & bandwith uploading to servers online. Firstly your going to need xampp and a fresh copy of wordpress, you can get wordpress from wordpress.org and xampp from apachefriends.org. Once you’ve downloaded both, extract wordpress to a folder on your desktop and install xampp. After xampp has installed open up your hard drive and locate the xampp folder, inside the xampp folder there should be a folder called “htdocs”.

Wheres your web at are proud to announce that we can now offer web design services in the stockport area

Stockport is a large town in Greater ManchesterEngland. It lies on elevated ground on theRiver Mersey at the confluence of the rivers Goyt and Tame, 6.1 miles (9.8 km) southeast of the city of Manchester. Stockport is the largest settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, and has a population of 136,082, the wider borough having 281,000.

Historically a part of Cheshire, Stockport in the 16th century was a small town entirely on the southbank of the Mersey, and known for the cultivation of hemp and rope manufacture and in the 18th century the town had one of the first mechanised silk factories in the United Kingdom. However, Stockport’s predominant industries of the 19th century were the cottonand allied industries. Stockport was also at the centre of the country’s hatting industry which by 1884 was exporting more than six million hats a year. In December 1997 the last Stockport hat works closed. The town’s hatting heritage is preserved at ‘Hat Works – the Museum of Hatting’.

Dominating the western approaches to the town is the Stockport Viaduct. Built in 1840, theviaduct‘s 27 brick arches over the River Mersey carry the mainline railways from Manchester to Birmingham and London. This structure featured as the background in many paintings byL.S. Lowry.
